Of stones and stars and stories

Speak to the stone as it lies in the riverbed,
Ask it to tell you a tale
Of children with fishing poles, men with their rowboats,
And ships with their billowing sails,

As it tumbles and rolls in the river unheeding.

Speak to the river that runs to the oceans
And ask it to sing you a song
Of cities and kingdoms, of trees and log cabins,
And birds as they wing their way on,

As it tumbles and pours into oceans unyielding.

Speak to the stars buried deep in the oceans
And ask them to show you a dance
Spanning centuries, sunsets, flowers fallen on sidewalks,
Sparks glimmering deeper than glance –

And you’ll tumble and drown and you’ll find you’re still breathing.

  1. Ah! Yes, there’s so much we can learn from nature.

Also, I just discovered your blog, and have been reading through some of your work, and Café de la Vie – that was such a good story. Keep writing for His glory! 🙂

  3. This is so beautiful and soft like a breath. And I like these verses best:
“Speak to the stars buried deep in the oceans
and “Spanning the centuries…(the iPad didn’t let me copy and paste :/ )

So touching… You have the gift. Thanks for sharing.
